![]() ![]() Zero Dawn was the development of an advanced intelligence known as GAIA that would crack the machine swarm's encryption codes, deactivate them, and then re-seed the Earth with plant, animal, and human life. ![]() However, she proposed a project named Zero Dawn to Ted, stating that it was the only way of ensuring that life on Earth could continue after the machines killed everything. Ted Faro, the CEO of Faro Industries, met with a former employee named Elisabet Sobeck in hopes of containing the swarm, but Elisabet found that there was no way of stopping the machines from destroying all life on Earth. Despite humanity's best efforts, the swarm could not be contained and they devoured biomass wherever they went, eliminating entire cities and ecosystems. Soon, a full-fledged war between humanity and robots began, costing billion of lives and immense destruction. The machines replicated faster than they could be destroyed, and began operating as an independent entity. ![]() However, a "glitch" in the Faro machines caused them to ignore commands and begin attacking humans without authorization. The entire Faro line used polyphasic entangled waveforms, rendering them virtually unhackable. Additionally, the Scarab's hijacking ability allowed it to slave other combat machines to its network. ![]() Ocular component that is especially vulnerable to damage. The first machines created by Faro Automated Solutions were domestic servants, the Focus, and However, Faro soon began developing machines built for combat, two of which were the Scarab and Khopesh, heavily-armed robots that could supplant entire armies, convert biomass into fuel, and replicate themselves allowing them to operate indefinitely. Also like Watchers, Burn states inflict enough damage to kill them before dissipating. They can be ambushed and killed with a single Silent Strike, or damaged and then killed by a single subsequent Critical Hit, just like Watchers. Redeye Watchers, notwithstanding their increased damage resistance, are still among the weakest of all machines. At close range, they employ the same melee attacks as Watchers. Additionally, they have a somewhat higher damage resistance than Watchers. However, as previously mentioned, Redeye Watchers default to this attack, distancing themselves from the enemy to do so. Watchers only tend to use this attack if they cannot get close to the enemy. Within the Forbidden West, Redeye Watchers are typically found in the Lowland jungles, the western coast, or the Isle of Spires.Ī Redeye Watcher’s primary attack is to fire energy projectiles at perceived enemies. However while Watchers aggressively close the distance and engage in melee attacks, Redeye Watchers always try to distance themselves from the threat, such that they may fire energy projectiles at it. Redeye Watchers have the same behavior as Watchers: they patrol their area of deployment, frequently around and among herds of GAIA terraformers, and utter loud alarm calls on identifying a threat. Thirdly, rather than one ocular sensor, Redeye Watchers have three: alongside the large main eye standard of Watchers, two smaller ocular sensors are built into its head, likely to grant it a wider range of vision. Secondly, their tails are more slender and point upward. Firstly, their heads are more heavily armored, possibly as housing for the the energy weapon mounted therein. Redeye Watchers look identical to Watchers except for the following differences. Their ranged weapon preference made them more of a threat to Aloy. They were seen and encountered with the same frequency as Watchers by the Nora huntress Aloy, including Daemonic Redeye Watchers in the Banuk region known as The Cut. Redeye Watchers were presumably made by the artificial intelligence (AI) HEPHAESTUS as an upgraded version of the Watcher. Since the Redeye Watcher is a more combat-oriented version of a Watcher, they likely started appearing after the onset of the Derangement. ![]()
